Class: 4
Agriculture: It is the production of food and fiber and other goods through farming and domesticating animals such as goats, cow, sheep buffaloes bullocks and poultry
Farming: It is the activity which involves growing crops and raising livestock
Small Scale Farming: In this kind of farming farmers produce food for self and family for the people working on the farm. It’s not for selling, substance farming is done with the manual labor of family members. At the time if harvesting, the whole family works in the field
Cash crop Farming: It means growing crops for sale. Famers or landlords grow these crops to earn money and raise their standards of living. They use modern techniques to increase the quality of production and use chemical fertilizers good quality seeds organized irrigation system tractors and threshers to speed up the processes on the farm
Livestock farming: Rearing animals is one of the oldest and most common occupation in Pakistan. The main livestock in Pakistan are bullock cattle buffaloes or sheep and poultry. The farmers sell some of these animals time to time to earn some money
Fish farm: People who live near lakes seas and rivers they do fishing and fish breeding. This activity is called fish farming. Fishing in the sea is called marine fishing. Fresh water fishing is done in rivers lakes and ponds and that is called Inland fishing
Rabi crops: The crops which grow in winter are called Rabi crops. For example Wheat, gram, masoor and mustard
Kharif crops: These crops are grown in summers. For example Rice, sugarcane Millet maize and cotton
Wheat: It is a staple food. It grows well in places that have mild temperature and a small amount of rainfall
Rice: It’s an important cash crops as well as food crop and it grows well in places that are warm and have plenty of moisture. Irri and basmati are desi varieties of rice
Cotton: It’s an important cash crop having excellent economic value. It requires warm climate and moderate rainfall and it’s used for making fabric
Sugarcane: It’s the main cash crop of Pakistan. It requires tropical or temperate climate with plenty of water. It’s used for manufacturing sugar and gur
Millet: Jawar and Bajra are two millet products used as fodder for animals and also for foods. They can easily be grown in poor soil with very little water
Pulses: these are good source of protein and grow well in sandy soil that is well drained. They are of less economic value
Planting: The practice of cultivating the land or raising stock

Growing: the season for gathering in agricultural crops or the act or process of gathering in crops
